Why was the decision taken to cancel the 109th Deutsche BIbliothekartag?

The state of Lower Saxony has imposed a ban on events, which includes congresses. Due to the impossibility of holding the event, we have to cancel the 109th Deutsche Bibliothekartag from May 26th – 29th at the HCC Hannover.
The health and safety of all participants*, exhibitors, partners, suppliers and employees* is of utmost importance.

Will the Deutsche Bibliotheartag 2020 in Hannover be postponed to a later date in 2020?
No, the Deutsche Bibliothekartag 2020 in Hannover will not be postponed.

Will the Deutsche Bibliothekartag then take place in Hannover in 2021?
The HCC cannot offer a suitable time frame in spring 2021, so the Congress will take place in Bremen in 2021 as planned (15 – 18 June 2021). For the following years, Hanover remains an option as a venue.

 

Registration, travel and hotel information

 

Will my registration fee for the congress be refunded?
As the congress has to be cancelled due to force majeure, refunds of registration fees can only be made after deduction of the costs already incurred. We make every effort to keep this deduction as small as possible. We will inform you about the exact amount of the refund as soon as possible. You yourself do not have to do anything for the cancellation.

How do I get my refund?
The registration team will contact you to request the bank details for the refund. Please understand that this will take some time.

Will my travel expenses be refunded?
As we have no influence on any travel arrangements you may have made, we ask you to cancel quickly on your own. If you booked your travel with Deutsche Bahn, please contact the hotline on their website for further information.
Please contact your airline directly regarding the cancellation of flight tickets.

Will my hotel booking be cancelled free of charge?
For bookings made directly at the hotel, we ask you to cancel on your own. In this case we have no influence on possible cancellation fees.
Participants* who have made their booking through the conference organisation K.I.T. Group will be contacted directly. We have to negotiate with the contract partners and ask for your understanding that this will take some time.

Will booked social programme items (congress party, city tours) be refunded?
We are in negotiations with the contractual partners and will inform you about the refund as soon as possible.

 

Support from the company partners

 

Is support from companies (e.g. for company presentations, exhibition space, etc.) for the Deutsche Bibliothekartag reimbursed?
During the organisation and preparations in the past months costs have been incurred which are necessary for the preparation of a professional and successful congress. According to the General Terms and Conditions, which all corporate partners accepted when booking, we will reimburse a part of the support/fees after deduction of all costs and expenses in connection with the previous congress preparation
We are in the process of actively mitigating financial obligations, and we will try to keep them as low as possible. The details of the refund policy will be communicated to all industrial partners by e-mail as soon as possible.

When can we expect a refund?
As soon as we have added up all costs and expenses, we will contact the industry partners for a refund.
